Since our last post we have been busy getting things ready for our "plan" to become reality. When Amanda and Julius were in the Detroit area, we were not only busy with them, but busy trading in our old 5th wheel on a new truck. 2007 Chevrolet again with a Duramax Diesel. Yes, that is the old truck in the background and yes we are keeping that one.So if I update our inventory that gives us one 2003 truck that will go to Alaska; one 2007 truck that will pull the Bighorn 5th wheel south to Grand Isle; one 2008 Bighorn 5th wheel; one 1999 Red Alero that will go to Alaska (our fuel efficient vehicle); one 1979 32 foot sailboat that will also take us to Grand Isle. That leaves us with a cottage here in Canada that needs to be sold, and the need of a small camper to pull behind the Alaska truck.
We have also been very busy on the boat. We moved it from Blind River to here in Bruce Mines, a seven hour trip. Once here we have been busy doing a refit (defined as throwing money into the hole in the water)!! I am very happy to say this morning that most of the miserable jobs are done. Those jobs included removing the mast; rewiring the mast; re-stepping the mast (putting it back up for you landlubbers); removing the old head (toilet) and all of the old hoses (they take on a nasty odor); putting in a new head and new hoses (fresh air again in the boat); tearing out the old refrigeration unit (crawling in the bowels of the ship); putting in the new refrigeration unit (again to the bowels of the ship); repairing the fresh water pump (once more into the bowels of the ship). All of this time in the bowels I am beginning to feel like a Colo-rectal surgeon. My body is currently covered in in boat bites (cuts and bruises for you landlubbers).
